Description

The biggest album in the world in 2022 has a crying heart on the front. The cover of Un Verano Sin Ti, which means "a summer without you," shows a sad red heart with a single eye sitting on a bright beach, surrounded by palm trees, a pink and orange sunset, a light blue sea, happy dolphins and pink flowers. Everything around the heart is cheerful, and the heart is miserable, which is the whole idea of a breakup album full of summer songs.

The idea came from Bad Bunny himself. In the summer of 2021 he contacted Adrian Hernandez, a Los Angeles artist and graphic designer known as Ugly Primo, and sent him the concept along with a drawing. Hernandez made about seven versions in different styles before they settled on the final cartoon. Although Hernandez drew it, Bad Bunny has said the idea for the cover was entirely his own. The image was revealed on 4 May 2022, just two days before the album came out.

Released on 6 May 2022, the album broke records across the board. It spent 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200, became the first all-Spanish-language album to top the chart's year-end list, was named the best-performing album in the world by the IFPI and became the first Spanish-language album nominated for the Grammy for Album of the Year. The sad little heart became one of the most recognisable images in Latin music.
